The Overview
Frede Studio is an independent jewelry brand defined by intimacy, material honesty, and hand-crafted expression. While the work itself was strong, the brand lacked imagery that fully captured its depth, intention, and emotional presence.
Frede Studio came to us to develop a visual language that could do more than document the jewelry. The goal was to create imagery that communicated authorship, confidence, and legitimacy in a competitive creative market.
Métisse led photography, creative direction, concept development, and the rollout of a cohesive marketing campaign.

The process
The Approach
We approached the project as a collaboration rather than a shoot.
Concept development focused on creating a world around the jewelry rather than isolating it. The creative direction emphasized texture, gesture, and presence. Photography was designed to feel intimate and deliberate, allowing the pieces to exist as objects of meaning rather than accessories.
Alongside final campaign imagery, we captured behind-the-scenes moments that could be used across applications, storytelling, and brand building.
The rollout strategy prioritized organic sharing and credibility over volume.
Outcome
The impact was immediate and tangible.
The images were widely shared and generated strong engagement and positive feedback. Following their release, Frede Studio received numerous requests from stylists and creatives to borrow jewelry for photoshoots.
The imagery also played a critical role in professional advancement. The brand was accepted into multiple markets, including a highly competitive New York opportunity. The photographs strengthened applications to markets, artist residencies, and other professional programs.
Perhaps most importantly, the project had a deep personal impact on the founder.
Seeing the jewelry represented with care and intention helped dissolve long-standing imposter syndrome. The work finally looked the way it felt.
Client Feedback
“The images had a huge impact on Frede Studio’s brand. They’ve been shared countless times and received tons of positive comments. After posting them, I received many requests to borrow my jewelry for photoshoots and styling.
Professional photos boosted our credibility and helped us get accepted into the markets we wanted, including one in New York. I also used the behind-the-scenes images for applications to markets and artist residencies.
Beyond all that, the experience had a super positive impact on our confidence. I was finally able to say, ‘Wow. This looks good. My jewelry is beautiful.’”
Why This Project Matters to Métisse
This project is a reminder that creative direction is not only about aesthetics. It is about affirmation.
Sometimes the most meaningful outcome of design and photography is not reach or metrics, but clarity. Helping a maker see their work as it truly is.
Frede Studio did not need to change. It needed to be seen.
